On the other, you have to be incredibly resourceful and self-sufficient. You have to make your own opportunities and be willing to take risks. 

Why it’s important? When I first started my own business, I had a lot of misconceptions about what running a business entailed.

I thought I had to be full-time and work on a part-time basis. I thought I had to hire employees or work with clients. And I thought that I had to have a substantial enough business to hire full-time employees.

But it turns out that while it is true that you need a certain amount of capital to start a business and many businesses require a lot of capital to succeed, those numbers vary significantly from business to business and from person to person.

In many cases, starting a business on your own might be better than taking on a full-time job in the field of your expertise.
